Father’s Day is right around the corner. Fortunately, there is still enough time to handcraft a gift for Dad that he will cherish forever.
Scrapbooks honoring the man, who helped give you life and guide you through the good times and bad, make a touching Father’s Day present. What’s more, they are not hard to create. All you need are a few photos of the special man in your life, as well as some embellishments and a little creativity.
If you are stumped on how to arrange your layouts, consider honing in on certain aspects of your dad’s life. For example, you could make a series of page designs dedicated to your father’s favorite hobbies, such as golf, cooking or sailing. If your dad loves to tee off during his down time, use pre-printed grass paper as the background for a layout, and then decorate it with sandpaper as a trap and golf ball die cuts.
Another layout option is to focus on what your dad does for a living. If he is a doctor, you could embellish the page with stickers of stethoscopes and thermometers. For firefighter dads, the page could include a title with cursive lettering made to look like it was formed by a fire hose. If your dad is a professor, create a chalkboard background with black paper and use a white specialty marker to write a special note.
To add an extra special touch to your Father’s Day memory album you could share heartfelt words in a journaling block. If you can’t find words to express how you truly feel about your father, consider looking in books or online for poems about dad, such as:
A Father Is…
A father is a source of strength,
A teacher and a guide,
The one his family looks up to
With loving trust and pride…
A father is a helper
With a willing hand to lend,
A partner, an adviser,
And the finest kind of friend.
The Internet is teeming with free Father’s Day-themed poems which you can add to your layouts.
