Six Months Old

When I first gazed into my daughter’s dark blue eyes, her half birthday seemed like it was very far away. Yet, here we are celebrating my daughter reaching the six month milestone. These past six months have gone by so quickly but in those six months we have enjoyed watching our little baby girl grow and develop into the happy and active baby that she is.

At six months she is still very much bald with a small patch of dark hair at the nape of her neck. Her hair is slowly growing in and her peach fuzz is developing into short, soft, and very blond hairs. She has a petite little face that is round and a bit chubby but very feminine. She has little fat rolls all over her thighs and arms too. Her feet are long and narrow. She has the longest and skinniest feet among both of her female cousins (one is four weeks older than her and the other is three months older than her). Even though she is the youngest, she is both smaller and taller than both of her cousins.

At six months her personality continues to blossom. She smiles, laughs, and babbles easily and she loves playing with her toys (something her brother was not really interested in when he was her age). She is extremelly vocal about her likes and dislikes (thankfully she has far more likes). She is very excited to experience new things and is enthralled by the world around her. There is always something new to discover and she is on the move to make those discoveries. While she is quite mobile, she is not crawling yet, but it is clear that she wants to crawl. She spends a lot of time practicing her crawling stance on her hands and knees but cannot yet coordinate the movements. She has tasted pear, apple, and avocado. Even though she has shown some interest in food, she prefers breastmilk and has only tasted with no attempt at eating other foods.

Her first six months have been an absolute marvel to behold and I am sure that her next six months will be filled with many more accomplishments!
