Every week, there are plenty of genealogy classes, workshops, and events happening, all across the United States. Attending one is a great way for a genealogist to learn more about their favorite hobby. Of course, before you can attend one, you need to find out about it! Here are some upcoming genealogy events that will be going on this week.
On June 19, 2012, Ancestry.com will present another Ancestry.com LIVE event. You can catch it as it is streamed live through Livestream. This one is called “Using Ancestry.com Member Profiles”. It will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon, and will end at 2:00 in the afternoon (EDT).
On June 20, 2012, West Virginia Wesleyan College, which is located in Buckhannon, West Virginia, will be hosting a free local history and genealogy workshop. It will take place from 7:00 to 8:30 in the evening. Learn how to access historical documents, church archives, and church histories. Representatives from local historical societies will be on hand to provide information about the genealogy and history resources at local institutions and online.
On June 20, 2012, the Bangor Public Library, which is located in Bangor, Maine, will hold a meeting of the Penobscot County Genealogical Society. It will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 in the evening. The speaker will be Susan Almy, who is a register of probate for Penobscot County.
On June 21, 2012, Ancestry.com will present another Ancestry.com LIVE event. You can catch it is streamed live through Livestream. This one is called “MyCanvas and Other Ideas for Publishing Your Family History”. It will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon and end at 2:00 in the afternoon (EDT).
On June 23, 2012, the Gates House, which is located in Machiasport, Maine, will hold a meeting of the Washington County Historical and Genealogical Society. It will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon. The guest speaker will be Jan Eakins, who will discuss “The Most Remarkable Event in the Life of this Town”.
On June 23, 2012, The Simsbury Free Library, which is located in Simsbury, Connecticut, will hold Part 1 of a short series of genealogy workshops. They will be presented by Diane LeMay. The first workshop will be called “Genealogy Research in Federal Records”. It will begin at 11:00 in the afternoon, and will end at noon. It will discuss resources like the Social Security Death Index, Military draft registrations, and the 1940 Census.
