It is time, once again, for the Special Needs Blog Week in Review. It brings you a quick summary of each of the blogs that were posted here in the past seven days. This is an easy way to find the blogs that you might have missed.
The Special Needs Podcast Roundup went up on June 18, 2012. This week, I’d like to point out an episode of The Coffee Klatch. The episode is called “The Best of Coffee Klatch – Dr. Ross Greene – Explosive Child”. Dr. Ross Green is the author of a book called “The Explosive Child”. He gives advice for parents, educators, and children about how to resolve issues and succeed.
Max Page – “Mini Darth Vader” – Heads Home
Max Page is seven years old, and has headed home from the hospital after heart surgery. He was born with Tetralogy of Fallot. This wasn’t his first heart surgery, and there will be more in his future.
What Really Happened During This Field Trip?
A group from Arc Broward’s Kamp Krayola visited the Funtastic Cafe on a field trip. The campers were between the ages of 5 and 12, and had special needs (including autism). There were 23 counselors accompanying the 30 children. The counselors feel that the owner of Funtastic Cafe treated the children from Kamp Krayola unfairly, because they had special needs. The owner of Funtastic Cafe feels that Kamp Krayola is waging a social media war against him.
Madagascar 3 Themed Children’s Claritin Causes Controversy
Parents of children who use Claritin allergy medication need to be aware of an ad campaign that appears to be targeting children to sell this particular medication. The grape-flavored Children’s Chewable Claritin comes in a box that features cartoon characters from the recent “Madagascar 3” movie. It also has stickers and a voucher for a free movie ticket. Kids might think it is candy.
Baby Has Teratoma Removed in Utero
A baby had a teratoma the size of a peach attached to her mouth. Doctors were able to remove it while the baby was still inside her mother’s womb. The girl is now 20 months old, and is doing great!
