Anniversaries and Date Nights Part III

As soon as we got home from mass, the rolls went into the oven to bake. Meanwhile, I made two lattes in our thermal travel mugs and the glaze for the cinnamon rolls. The combination of these particular cinnamon rolls (filled with a brown sugar crumb with chopped raisins and pecans topped with a creamy sugar glaze) paired with a decadent latte make for one of my favorite and rare treats (I usually only make these rolls for Christmas morning). Once the rolls were done baking, I drizzled the glaze on top and it took every ounce of my self control to not gobble one of the rolls up right then and there! With a blanket, two lattes, and two cinnamon rolls in hand, and my sister present to watch our children, we headed to a picnic friendly park with lots of shade trees. We found a nice spot under some big maple trees overlooking the pond and as we enjoyed our breakfast picnic treats, we had an uninterrupted conversation for the first time in a long time! After about an hour it began to get too muggy so our picnic came to an end. As we drove back home, we talked about where we would like to be and things we would like to have accomplished by our next anniversary. We also discussed our need for more frequent date nights so that we can spend some much needed time together without our children. We spent the rest of our anniversary with our son and daughter enjoying more home made food and basking in the presence of our beautiful children (they are so darn cute that it is hard to leave them for even a couple of hours!). It is incredible to me that my husband and I have been married for six years. It seems like we have only been married for a couple of years. While in the grand scheme of life, six years seems very small, as a couple and as a family we have grown and accomplished a lot!
