Sail Into Summer

left

Summer cruises are extremely popular with travelers looking to spend part of the season on the high seas. In addition to providing an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of their land-based lives, summer sailings offer families a cost-effective vacation option, as they can bundle all of their expenses into one low price.

The key to saving on a cruise is to time your departure just right. For example, you are more likely to score deep discounts if you wait until the end of summer to sail. Many families hit the high seas as soon as school gets out, so waiting until a few weeks before school resumes, when more clans are staying close to home, is a great way to save a few bucks.

Another way to avoid breaking the bank on a summer cruise is to look for deals offered by major carriers. For instance, to entice potential cruisers to check-out their newest “Fun Ship,” Carnival recently featured a slew of money-saving offers for a ride on the Carnival Breeze. The company is determined to fill all of the cabins on its new 3,690-passenger vessel during the course of the summer sailing season and beyond.

If you are one of the lucky ones able to snag a deal on the Breeze you are in for a real summer vacation treat. The ship features a groundbreaking 3-D theater with moving seats and special effects. What’s more, the Breeze boasts one of the largest water play areas on the high seas. Perched high above the ship’s main pool deck sits “WaterWorks,” which features two massive water slides, and a slew of other family-friendly water-based activities. The first slide is the 312-foot-long “Twister,” and the other is a towering, funnel-style slide dubbed “DrainPipe.” The area is also home to two side-by-side toddler slides and a 300-gallon dump bucket that sends water splashing over a huge play area. Other amenities on the new Breeze include a mile-high sky ropes course, an outdoor weightlifting area, a two-level mini golf course and a jogging track.
