I have to say that I would never have assumed radishes had a great many health benefits. However, I was wrong. This root vegetable is highly nutritious and provides a great many health benefits, including weight loss! Eat those radishes in your salads!
Weight Loss: Radishes are very filling, and satisfy your hunger without giving you many calories, as they are low in carbohydrates, high in roughage and contain a lot of water. Have you added radishes to your menu, I haven’t but I will!
Urinary Issues: Radishes are a natural diurectic. It has been noted that juice of radish also cures inflammation and burning feeling during urinating. It cleans the kidneys and inhibits infections in kidneys and urinary system. As someone who is allergic to antibiotics and gets UTI’s, maybe I found another natural aid other than the traditional cranberry.
Liver and Stomach: Radish is excellent for the liver and the stomach and detoxifies or purifies blood. It is very useful in jaundice since t helps removing bilirubin. The black radish is more preferred in jaundice.
Insect Bites: Now this is a great little trick! The anti pruritic properties can be used as an effective treatment for insect bites, stings of bees, hornets, wasps etc. Its juice also reduces pain and swelling of the affected area. Never thought about keeping some on hand for bug bites but perhaps this will make a great addition to your natural cures medicine cabinet.
Fever: Radish brings down the body temperature and relieves inflammation caused by fever. It also fights infection.
Even more benefits: There are so many health benefits of radishes even beyond what is listed above but here are a few more brief ones; use as breath freshener, laxative, regulates metabolism, improves blood circulation, is a good treatment for headache, acidity, constipation, nausea, obesity, sore throat, whooping cough, gastric problems, and gallbladder stones.
