Earlier in the week, I blogged about Prince Harry and his recent naked in Vegas photo scandal. Reports are surfacing that the royal family is still behind the young prince and why not? There have been royal scandals in England for quite some time now. Here are a few that might put Harry’s antics to shame:
King Edward VIII abdicated the thrown to marry Wallis Simpson. Not only was she American, but she had been divorced – twice – and it was later revealed she was a Nazi sympathizer.
Harry’s aunt, Princess Anne, was married to Mark Phillips. That in and of itself isn’t a scandal, but the fact that Phillips had a child out of wedlock with his mistress was. The couple later divorced.
Harry’s uncle, Prince Andrew, caused a stir before marrying Sarah Ferguson, when he dated Koo Stark in the ‘80s. Stark wasn’t exactly royal marrying material – she was an American actress who had appeared in a soft-porn film.
Why Harry’s own father (who I don’t think will ever be named King) Charles was left red faced when intimate parts of a conversation to his long time love/now wife Camilla was leaked – while Charles was still married to Princess Diana.
And, Harry’s mother caused a few heads to turn when a photo of her, wearing a skirt with no slip which made it almost see-through, was released before the wedding. It was rumored she had an affair with James Hewitt while married to Charles. Hewitt, like Harry, has red hair. Just saying!
Other royal scandals include Harry’s aunt, Sarah Ferguson, and her embarrassing photo of her toes in the mouth of a Texas businessman, not to mention her wanting to sell access to Prince Andrew for about $700,000 in 2010.
But, the House of Windsor certainly doesn’t have a lock on royal scandals. Tomorrow, I’ll tell you about royal scandals from around the world.
