The area is an ideal weekend getaway destination, especially during September and October when the summer crowds fade away and you are left with a serene setting. The quaint beach resort community features miles of powder soft sand, world-class spas and golf courses, scenic bike trails, fine dining at waterfront restaurants, and plenty of historical attractions.
Another superb seasonal escape destination that won’t break the bank is Bald Head Island, North Carolina. This natural gem of a beach resort is home to 14 miles of pristine white sand beaches, rich wildlife, affordable maritime shops, and the state’s oldest lighthouse, Old Baldy. The island also provides breathtaking views and a tranquil feeling that you can’t get just anywhere. Florida is also a budget-saving destination if you wait to visit during the fall. Frugal travelers will appreciate the deals they can score staying on Amelia Island. Located in the northeastern corner of Florida, just off the coast of Jacksonville, Amelia Island sports balmy temperatures, breathtaking sunsets and miles and miles of sugar sand beaches. Popular pastimes include horseback rides along the beach, river cruises, and ferry tours. Amelia Island also caters to travelers with varying price points. If you are traveling on a budget, consider staying at the local Residence Inn which offers big savings during September, October and the first part of November.
