Fall Beach Deals

Who knew procrastinating could yield such major savings?

Timing is everything in the world of travel, and when you are able to be flexible with your vacation dates, your wallet will thank you.

While the rest of the world is heading back to class to start the new academic year, you could be relaxing on an empty beach at a price that can’t be beat. Fall is considered “off-season” at many popular beach resorts, which means minimal crowds, incredible weather and fabulous savings.

If you are looking to soak up the sun, sand and surf without going into debt, consider heading to Hilton Head, South Carolina, this fall. The area is an ideal weekend getaway destination, especially during September and October when the summer crowds fade away and you are left with a serene setting. The quaint beach resort community features miles of powder soft sand, world-class spas and golf courses, scenic bike trails, fine dining at waterfront restaurants, and plenty of historical attractions.

Another superb seasonal escape destination that won’t break the bank is Bald Head Island, North Carolina. This natural gem of a beach resort is home to 14 miles of pristine white sand beaches, rich wildlife, affordable maritime shops, and the state’s oldest lighthouse, Old Baldy. The island also provides breathtaking views and a tranquil feeling that you can’t get just anywhere. Since cars are not permitted on the island, you don’t have to worry about draining your pocketbook paying for gas, plus, many of the island’s properties reduce their rates in order to drive up business during the slower months of October and November.

Florida is also a budget-saving destination if you wait to visit during the fall. Frugal travelers will appreciate the deals they can score staying on Amelia Island. Located in the northeastern corner of Florida, just off the coast of Jacksonville, Amelia Island sports balmy temperatures, breathtaking sunsets and miles and miles of sugar sand beaches. Popular pastimes include horseback rides along the beach, river cruises, and ferry tours. Amelia Island also caters to travelers with varying price points. If you are traveling on a budget, consider staying at the local Residence Inn which offers big savings during September, October and the first part of November.
