I have heard many women complain that they don’t have the time to exercise. They work, take care of their home and families.
There aren’t enough hours in the day to do all that you want to do. But I think the key here is what you “want” to do. How about what you “should” do?
I want to do a lot of things. I want to finish the cross-stitch project I have been working on for three years now. I want to take a weekend away with my husband. I want to put aside one day a month to stay in my pajamas and do nothing.
These wants aren’t necessary. They are definitely things that would make me happy and might even reduce some of my stress levels. But I can live without doing them.
Then there are the things that should be done…like exercise. I used my busyness as an excuse for years to not invest time in me. I’m not talking about time to do nothing but time to focus on my health.
You have young kids to take care of? Great, plop them in a stroller and take a nice long walk. Children in grade school? Take them out to the park and play kickball. Do you have teenagers to supervise? Join a gym together. It’s a great way to bond.
Work preventing you from exercising? Get up earlier in the morning to do some yoga. Use your lunch break to take a walk.
Overwhelmed with housework? Hey, some of that can count as exercise! Delegate and then with the extra time you have, go to your nearest gym for a half hour session.
I think you get my point. For every excuse, there is a solution. It is just a matter of getting creative and motivated enough to change things.
