If you have always dreamed of setting sail on a floating resort, now is the time to make your plans.
National Cruise Vacation Week kicked off yesterday, and to celebrate, two of North America’s largest cruise lines are offering super savings on extravagant getaways.
Sound too good to be true? Well, there’ a catch: the promotion ends on October 28th.
Still, that gives you nearly seven full days to take advantage of these special sales:
Royal Caribbean: The cruise line giant is offering up to $100 in on-board credits to individuals who book a European voyage–including trans-Atlantic sailings–totaling seven nights or longer departing in 2013. According to Royal Caribbean, the promotion gives travelers reserving a balcony cabin or suite $100 per cabin in on-board credits. Customers who book an interior cabin without a window or an ocean-view cabin will get $50 in credit. The offer is available in the U.S. and Canada only.
Holland America: The popular cruise line is also offering a money-saving deal in honor of National Cruise Vacation Week. Holland America is giving passengers on ships this week an on-board credit of up to $200 per person if they make a new booking for select sailings in the Caribbean, Asia, South America, Europe, Alaska, Australia and New Zealand. Holland America spokespeople say the promotion will be unveiled at “cruise night” events taking place this week aboard each of the line’s 15 ships. Under the terms of the promotion, the line will also be reducing the deposit required to book a cabin.
If you can’t take advantage of the aforementioned sales, but you still have your eye on a frugal cruise vacation, consider booking a repositioning sailing. Late fall, early winter and spring are the most popular months for repositioning cruises. These select voyages are offered when cruise companies are moving their ships to seasonal destinations, so they can debut new itineraries for the peak summer season. The prices of repositioning cruises, especially ones that sail during the pre-holiday season, are hard to beat. You can score amazing savings as cruise companies try to fill their vessels. In some cases, savings exceed 60 percent off rack rates. In addition, you will enjoy more time at sea. Most repositioning cruises last two to three weeks, and feature stellar service, incredible entertainment options and world-class amenities.
