RecycleBank Tips

RecycleBank is a program that rewards you for recycling by letting you earn point for everything that you recycle. Make the most of your rewards with the following tips.

Take Advantage of Extra Points

RecycleBank often offers extra points in their program for completing surveys, texting tweeting or simply clicking on a link. Look for these free points by searching online. Many freebie and coupon blogs will post these offers. Complete them whenever you can, and you’ll earn more rewards and earn them quickly.

Recycle Right

Make sure to only use the recycling bin that is provided to you by your collection company. Workers will often toss not recycle items that are packed in bags or boxes or put in other bins. This is because these are “mystery items” to them, and they simply do not have the time to be able to look through them to ensure that they are recycled materials.

At the same, make sure to follow guidelines for bundling certain items, such as corrugated cardboard.

What to Include

Don’t worry about removing staples from papers, the little plastic windows from envelopes or the spirals out of notebooks. They are all okay to include when you recycle. At the same time, do not include anything with food stains on them. Some collectors will toss an entire bin if it contains greasy pizza boxes, which means that you won’t get credit for any of it.

Also know what might earn you more elsewhere. While you can recycle books, you might be better of selling ones that are popular and in good condition.

Say No to Electronics

Not only can’t electronics go into the landfill, they can’t be recycled for credit through the RecycleBank program. You can, however get paid for certain electronics, such as cell phones, tablets and more. Check out store and the Internet for buyback and other recycling programs.
