The Dreaded Pink Eye

The last thing any parent wants to hear is pink eye is going around. Of course, the last thing a parent wants to see in the morning is her child with pink eye. Let’s face it, we all dread it. It is highly contagious and extremely uncomfortable. You see pink eye and you want to run in the opposite direction. Those two words can inspire panic in parents, babysitters, and teachers. Not only does it mean more than one child will come down with it, but adults could just as easily get it. Worse still, is watching your child in such misery.

In my home we have had fairly decent success avoiding pink eye. The few times it has shown up it, thankfully, remained contained. The first time it appeared was when my son was three. We went to the doctor and got a prescription for an antibiotic. It took days of care and medicine but it finally went away. The second time, it appeared in my daughter at about two or three. However, this time, I decided to try a natural cure.

I have heard that Colloidal silver is an natural anti-biotic and excellent at treating pink eye. So off to the health food store I went upon the first symptom of pink eye in my daughter. It was a Saturday and I didn’t want to have to wait to get it looked at and treated until Monday. So, I followed the directions from the woman at the health food store. I gave the silver to my child orally three times a day. My child had no problem taking it since it tastes “like water” according to her. By Monday, I didn’t see any reason to call the doctor. Her eye was practically cleared up!

Now, I do not recommend not visiting your doctor. If you suspect your child has pink eye the call your doctor. Talk to your doctor about using natural treatments.
