When you have little ones running around it can be hard to entertain them day in and day out. Their little attention spans require a wide range of activities to keep them busy and as a single mom running from one thing to the other all day it can be hard to think of simple things to keep them from getting bored during the day. I’m not sure what people did before the internet, but lucky for you, there are a ton of fun ideas to do with your kids, especially during the winter months when you can’t send them outside to play.
My sweet friends came over last night and did a treasure hunt with Logan. It only took a few minutes to get everything set up and Logan absolutely loved every second of it! He had his very own treasure map on the back of an old brown grocery bag and little clues hidden throughout the house eventually leading him downstairs to a pirate story and a treasure box full of little goodies. It was incredibly simple and was something I’m sure he’ll be talking about for weeks.
There are also a lot of fun, kid friendly crafts that you can do with your kids as well. Let them make some fun little ornaments for the tree or color some pictures to hang up on the wall. The dollar store has lots of cute little ornaments that kids can paint and they are perfect for the tight budget of a single mother. Logan and I have had a fun new craft or art project every day of the week. He’s constantly asking me what we are going to do next. It is a bonding experience for us and as a bonus I get lots of cute hand-made things to hang around the house.
There are also lots of fun little treats that you can make with your kids this time of year. Help them make little reindeer cookies and take them to a neighbor or cook some gingerbread ornaments and hang them on the tree. There are lots of ideas on sites like pinterest to keep you busy for days! It is a great time to bond with your kids and it keeps them from getting bored during the long winter months!
