WHO HUNTS FOR TREASURE

Unfortunately, when we talk about treasure hunting, we envision old men after retirement walking around with their little metal detector, hoping to find some type of treasure to make their retirement more successful. Hunting for treasure is no longer associated with just the elderly. In fact, children as young as four to woman up to 95 are all enjoying the fun and benefits of using metal detectors to hunt for treasure.

One of the most popular reasons people treasure hunt is to find rare coins. If you were to walk along the beaches of Malibu, you would spot entire families carrying around metal detectors, digging in the sand to unearth their newly found treasures. Think about it – not only is the family enjoying the beach and water, but they are spending quality time together, taking home items found that could be worth money. Surveys show that more and more children are now asking parents for a metal detector at Christmas in place of bicycles.

Additionally, families that enjoy camping, hiking, or going on picnics, are now taking their metal detectors along with them to treasure hunt. This is just another activity added to the weekend list of fun things to do, providing constant anticipation that something valuable is just around the corner. In fact, the most successful treasure hunters found are not the people owning the most expensive metal detector or those in the best physical shape.

The most successful people are the ones who treasure hunt on a consistent basis, the ones that go out on the weekends and really put in an effort. Many people ask if treasure hunting is worth the time spent and the answer is yes! If a person hunts on a consistent basis to places where jewelry, coins, and other valuables are lost, such as the beach, park, amusement parks, campsites, and so on, they can find thousands of dollars of treasure, although it would probably take years to do so. However, as mentioned, if you are going to be at the lake for the weekend anyway, just add treasure hunting into your activity.

Hunting for coins is the easiest to learn, making this a great place to start. The majority of detectors designed today are excellent for eliminating trash, thus getting you closer to the real stuff. Generally, when a person starts with coin hunting, within a short time, they expand their hunt to include jewelry. Regardless of what you want to hunt for, be assured that people of all ages and lifestyles are now enjoying the fun of treasure hunting.
