Since our ward got reorganized, it feels like we are in a brand new ward. Sure, I see a lot of the familiar faces of those in our previous ward, but the sheer number of people we have now compared to the tiny branch-like ward we had before makes it seem overwhelming.
For one, the chapel is full now. Without an overflow room into the gym, if you are a little late to church, you may have a hard time finding a seat. This never happened in our previous ward. This past Sunday, we got there right as it was starting and luckily we found a seat. But, after the sacrament was passed, there were about 20 more people that piled into the chapel. I was shocked. It is going to be fun getting to know all these people in the ward.
We had just a one hour block again, which is also different. We haven’t had a 3 hour block for a month! The break is kind of nice, but it is also very different, too. I was expecting this past Sunday that they would call a bunch of new leaders, and in fact, they only called 5. The music coordinator, Primary President, Young Women’s President, Young Men’s President, and the Sunday School President. That leaves a lot of callings to fill.
I was not surprised that I was not called to be the Primary President again since there are so many people in the ward to choose from. I will miss that calling. And, part of me is hoping that I will get called back into primary quickly. I do love it there.
Next week, we will have a two hour block. And, I’m sure in another week or two, we will end up with a normal block schedule and the callings will slowly begin to be filled in. I couldn’t help but speculate with my husband after church on Sunday over what was going to happen, but he wasn’t nearly as interested as I was in the speculation. I realized that the Lord will take care of it all like it is supposed to happen, and I don’t have to worry. He has it all under control.
