A Day in the Life of a Relaxed Homeschooler

Many people want to know what a typical day is like for a homeschooler. I will start by saying there is no such thing as a typical day. We do have basic schedules, but we are always open to deviation.

Regardless, I decided to give a peek into a day in our lives.

Planning it out the night before (written last night)

Today, I had the children homeschool for about 6 hours, to get 2 days worth of work done. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day.

First, we have an appointment with a photographer to do headshots for my daughter’s pageant activities. I got a great deal, but have to drive 40 minutes and through Atlanta, the city with the worst traffic ever. We get to bring three changes of clothing, which I have already picked out. Jeans and a cute Jacket, Jeans and a red body suit, and a pretty dress should do well for three different looks. I am bringing an extra dress with me in case the photographer does not like white on her.

Next, I need to do a bit of shopping for something cool to wear on Friday for my local TV show taping.

Then, we need to come home and rest a bit, as my daughter is in a Christmas Chorus Show. I need to bring salty food with me.

AM: (written this morning)

Considering that I had to get up early, of course I could not fall asleep. Therefore, I awoke at 9:00 am, about an hour later than I planned. In that one hour, I needed to conduct a phone interview (for an article I am writing), get showered and beautiful, and get my kids and my daughter’s clothing in the car. I also wanted to post this blog this morning. I am running about 10 minutes behind; I guess we will grab breakfast bars and milk on the way out of the house.
