A Few Last Minute Easter Ideas

Last minute is right! I usually like to prepare as much in advance as possible for holidays and special occasions, but things have been somewhat … interesting … lately, so I’m running out of “advance.”

If you’re like me and have been a bit overwhelmed lately to plan for Easter the way you’d like to have done, or if you simply need a few more ideas, hopefully these will be helpful.

A great way to add a quick and simple, yet beautiful decoration is to pick up some fresh flowers. You don’t have to fuss with creating a centerpiece; all you have to do is place flowers in a vase, add water, and arrange them a bit. It takes about two minutes to add a fresh, colorful, finish to your table.

To dress up a plain vase, wrap it with wide ribbon in a pretty color. Fold over one end and glue it the other. Add a thin piece of ribbon of another color around the center of the wide ribbon. Glue end to end or finish with a bow.

A bowl or basket filled with colored Easter eggs will also do the trick. Strategically place a few blossoms or sprigs of greenery to peek out between the eggs. Use Easter eggs as place cards, writing each guest’s name on one egg. Make a “nest” with a linen napkin, place it on the plate, and place the egg in the center.

Fill some decorative plates or dishes with pretty, pastel dinner mints and other candies. Food often makes great, easy, last minute decorations.

When it comes to food you plan to serve, now is a good time to firm up your menu and check your shopping list. Within the next two days is a good time to finish purchasing fresh foods and begin preparing what you can ahead of time.

I plan to attend church on this momentous occasion. Of course, I’ll need to get things done before hand so I can quickly get into entertaining mode upon my return.

Don’t forget to put an apron on over your Sunday best!

Happy Easter.
