Looking for an inexpensive gift that will thrill anyone who is a veteran or patriotic? This idea is unique and costs only $20 or less.
I was so excited to find out about this idea, because it is the perfect gift for a very special member of my family. I know he will love it, and what’s more, it is very inexpensive, especially compared to the impact it will have.
Did you know that you can give someone an actual flag that has flown over the capitol? And even better, you can request that your flag is flown on a certain date and in honor of a particular person. Your flag will be flown on your requested date. Then, it will be packaged up and mailed to you or your gift recipient. A certificate of authenticity, from the Architect of The Capitol, stating the day and the name of the person will be included.
The cost varies by state, but it is generally around $20, including shipping.
To request a flag, you will need to do so in advance, generally by 4 weeks. This may be a little late for Christmas or Hanukkah, but think of birthdays or belated holiday gifts. You’ll need to fill out a form or write a letter to your senator.
You can find a list of senators by visiting the website that lists all of the Senators of the 110th Congress. Just click on this link. http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm If you are unfamiliar with your senator, you can search by state. You can also order the list by senator name, affiliation or class.
The flags are all of very high quality, and a real bargain for the price. The individual stars are hand sewn on to the flag.
