A Great Place for Those Learning French or about France

Teaching a foreign language is a challenging job for a homeschool mom who is not bilingual herself. When you teach a foreign language you need all the support you can get or your student will have difficulty mastering the language. Immersing yourself in the language is best but the opportunity for that does not come easily for most. For those who are interested in speaking French or simply have a desire to learn more about France you have an opportunity to for an online immersion from a well qualified and amazing lady. Katie’s Language Café is a new site designed to help students of any age or level learn more about the language and culture.

Katie’s Language Cafe is a community for:

*French language learners, all levels

*People who love traveling to France or daydreaming about their first trip!

*foodies who want to try out French recipes and learn more about French cooking

*homeschoolers who want to infuse some French culture into their curriculum, including French History and language instruction

*Francophones (people who speak French natively)
fans of francophone countries (love the language but don’t speak it)

Who is Katie and why does she think she can teach French?

Katie is a speech language pathologist with a strong background in linguistics. Her interest lies in how languages are acquired. I find that fascinating. The part that she is interested in how languages are acquired not simply how they are acquired. I have never put that kind of thought into it before. Katie is working on a second Master’s in French History. She doesn’t stop there she is also learning romance languages. She amazes me. If I had half her talent I would be sitting in Paris right now at one of those adorable cafes. About the only thing we share is a blog and even her personal blog, Brighton Park, is wonderful.

The site is not restricted to just learning French. You will learn about the culture, history and food! I just may have to visit now and print off a fun French recipe for dinner. I most certainly am going to reintroduce the French language program I have for my 1st grader now that I have a resource like this! Join us!
