If you have specific questions about money, or just want to learn more about handling your money in general you should visit mymoney.gov. This would be a great site to visit with your teenager as well, because it teaches a lot of the basics very well.
This site covers a wide variety of money topics including budgeting, taxes and home ownership. There is a section devoted to kids. You can also learn more about educational grants, starting a small business and planning for retirement. Many of the topics include links to other sites.
You can take a quiz about your financial knowledge while at the site. One feature that I like about this site is that it takes you to several different government sites that offer loan assistance or grants for things such as a home mortgage or student loans or small business loans. If you take the time to review the resource on the site you can save a lot of money and receive the extra help you need to achieve your dream.
One particularly nice feature of the site is that it is also available in Spanish. This is especially helpful when explaining the technical terms and conditions that often accompanies money. It is important that everyone have access to information that can so greatly affect his or her future.
Another great section of the site is the section titled “Privacy, Fraud and Scams.” This section lists information on the various types of fraud. It includes email scams, postal scams, and work-at-home scams. It also gives tips on how to keep your information private. You can also learn how to protect yourself against identity theft.
While much of the information on this site is very basic, it is a good source to go to if you need to refresh yourself on some information. It is also an excellent tool to use if you are trying to teach your children about basic money management. I hope you take the time to check out this site.
