Any amount of exercise is good for you. If you can even just snag 10 minutes of exercise a day, you are at least on the right track. It is better than nothing. Of course the ideal situation would be that you get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. However a little here and a little there, it begins to add up.
Guess what else adds up? If you are eating a little here, a little there than you are sabotaging any exercise efforts you have put in. I’m talking about unhealthy eating and I have to confess, has my biggest downfall lately. I have just been in a real slump. I have been pretty good at keeping up my fitness routine but it isn’t getting me anywhere because I am snacking a little here, a little there.
Stress causes me to eat even though I’m not hungry. Some recent changes in my home have brought on the stress. While I am learning to adjust to these changes, I have been snacking. Although I’m not exactly gaining weight, I’m certainly not losing it. It feels like my daily fitness routine is nothing but a waste because I wreck it with the snacking.
Anything that is bad for us, we sometimes try to justify by saying “It’s only a little.” Well a little begins to add up to much. A little here, a little there of the bad stuff and pretty soon you have something more than you bargained for.
So my challenge for this week is that although I may not be completely ready to stop the snacking, I can at least replace the unhealthy snacking with healthier foods. I figure then I can ease my way back into my healthy eating routine.
At the same time I know that I need to tackle the issue of stress in my life and deal with it. Stress is oftentimes the number one reason that people overeat. We seek our comfort foods when things aren’t going right. However we have to learn how to work on those areas of stress in our lives in a way that is healthier.
A little here, a little there…just as the good adds up, so does the bad.
