A Love Story of Sorts

null I love that Mick and I can enjoy a romantic movie together. The other week we recorded one of the midday movies to watch at a later time. I’d read the write up in the TV guide, saw Cheryl Ladd was in the movie – Mick and I remembered her from way back with the original Charlie’s Angels. I thought for the write up it sounded like it might be okay. Our theory is if it doesn’t capture our interest then we just stop watching and wipe it off.

After choir I’m usually hyped up and find it hard to settle for bed, so we put the movie on planning to watch only a little and finish it the next night. But once we started, we soon became so caught up in it that going to bed was never going to be an option. It was after midnight before we finally hit the sack.

The movie, ‘Though None Go with Me’ is a love story with a twist. Elizabeth Leroy falls in love with a young man, Ben. They are to be married as soon as he returns from overseas. He enlists as a chaplain during the Korean war. Then she receives notification that he is dead.

I’m not going to give away too many more details about it except to say it is a story of how a promise and commitment made as a young woman stayed with her throughout life. It also shows how her faith helped her cope with the hardships and losses life threw her way. Yes, I was in tears at various times throughout the movie. So, keep the tissues handy for when you get emotionally involved.

At the end Mick said, ‘It was a really good movie. I’m glad you suggested we record that.’

It is a movie you could watch with the family and it could provide lots of talking points, I’m sure. Or it’s a good movie to cuddle up on the couch and watch as a couple. See what you think.
