Is your master bedroom the last space in the home that gets attention? Every couple needs a comfortable retreat. Adding some romance is a bonus, and softness, luxury, and comfort are the keys to creating a more sensual, more romantic space.
Begin with Bedding
Start with luxurious sheets and then add other rich fabrics to the bed. Select a beautiful duvet, quilt, or comforter that is the epitome of softness, or purchase some lush fabric and make your own. Add lavish accent pillows and plenty of them. Also, add additional bed pillows and cover them with rich looking shams.
Go for a Softer Touch
Wispy, gossamer fabrics also lend a touch of romance. Add sheer panels beneath heavier treatments or opt for delicate window scarves. Place a soft, mock canopy over the bed. If you have a canopy, drape sheer fabric from it. Soft lighting or lights that can be dimmed are also good choices.
Choose Your Artwork Carefully
The artwork you choose for the space should also be romantic. Have that vacation photo of the perfect sunset blown up and framed. Frame and hang pictures of you and your husband or wife together holding hands or laughing. Select sexy prints or images filled with ambience, such as one with lit candles.
Speaking of Candles…
Candles are the essence of romance. Choose lightly scented candles in soft colors and select different sizes and shapes. Arrange them around the room on as many surfaces as possible.
Hide Items that are Less than Romantic
Put up a pretty folding screen to block the view of exercise equipment or your desk. Place the TV in a closed cabinet. Tuck the ironing board or sewing basket away in the closet. Use attractive elements to camouflage or distract from any item that doesn’t represent comfort.
