I found a new website that is like Facebook but for people, who have had, currently have or are supporters of cancer. The site is called IHADCANCER.com I like the site for a few reasons. One you can search for people in your area, your diagnosis, your age etc. The site will automatically search for people that are like you and near you too so you can add to your circle of support. This is great the site is only a few weeks old and there are thousands of members already.
This site has a few things that I love the Dear Cancer section where you can write a little note to cancer and tell it what you think about it. Some of them talk about what cancer has taken from them, others talk about what cancer can’t take away and that is their spirit and their fight. My dear cancer was basically that cancer took my Dad, attacked my husband, and got me in a fight for my life. It also made my kids grow up too fast. The last part maybe the Yankee girl in me I was basically telling cancer I was going to fight like hell and kick its back side.
Sometimes with cancer you feel alone at least I did and this is a great way to network with people who have been where you are or are going through what you have gone through. I wish they had this site when I was going through it I would have found it very helpful to find people my age with my diagnosis to talk to. I found someone after that was a great person to talk to she had the unfortunate luck to be diagnosed with it also.
Whether you are a cancer patient, survivor or if you are what they call a co-survivor we are all in this same fight and it is about time that cancer is stopped. People should not have to fear cancer, cancer should fear us!
