A Poker Table Top For Games

Happy (almost) New Year! We are having a quiet afternoon before we head to a friend’s house for a family party tonight. I’ve got oral surgery scheduled for Friday, so it’s nice to have a little down time.

Earlier today the kids and I played some of our new Christmas games on our new poker table top!

The poker table top is actually something I wanted for Christmas. Our dining table is long and oval and was never good for playing board games on. It was hard for small children to reach the far side of the board. We had a lot of accidentally knocked over playing pieces, and of course arguments over where those pieces had been before they were knocked over. We bought a card table thinking that would solve our problems, but five people don’t fit very well around a small four sided table. There also wasn’t room for the board and the money, tokens, properties, or extra cards. We had a lot of arguments over the board getting shoved over people’s money and cards.

The poker table top sits on our card table. It adds enough room to the table top so that we have room for boards, money, and all the other little pieces that go along with board games. Everyone gets their very own side of the table. There are even cup holders for beverages and snacks! The felted top helps pieces and the board not slide so much under little fingers.

This particular poker top cost under twenty-five dollar. There are a lot fancier and more expensive ones available, but this one fits our needs right now. Plus since it’s inexpensive I won’t have to stress over every single scratch to the table. It also folds up for storage so we can use our card table for other things, too. I only wish I’d thought to want one earlier!
