This is ongoing series where I ask a question a week to my readers. To see the post where this all started, check this out.
A while back, I did a quick series focused on Firefox, the Internet browser. I talked about Firefox because it’s a more secure browser, and using it will help keep your computer clean, thus making your life as a stay-at-home worker easier and less stressful. There are companies who hire workers from home who have started requiring their employees to use Firefox instead of IE, because it keeps the computer clean and better protected from attacks from malicious users.
Despite all this, there are still a lot of people out there who use IE exclusively, and I thought today we could discuss the reasoning behind that. I personally can think of the few, and I wanted y’all to jump in with your own thoughts on why you use IE. Or if you use Firefox, tell me that too, and why.
Here’s some reasons I came up with:
*Habit. It takes time and energy to switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox, and people don’t always want to spend that time and energy, because it’s not a big priority of theirs.
*The company they work for requires IE. Although there are companies out there now starting to require Firefox, for the most part, if a web browser of some kind is specified by a company, it’s IE. I have had companies tell me I have to use Firefox, and I’ve had companies tell me I have to use IE. I keep both on my computer, just in case.
*Which brings me to my last reason: There are a few websites out there that will not function properly in Firefox. Firefox has security guards that IE does not, and sometimes those guards keep even the content you want to see from loading on the page. For this pesky problem, I downloaded an add-on to Firefox that allows me to load whatever web page I am currently on in Firefox up in Internet Explorer with just one click. That’s a really nice feature, but I can see some people not wanting to mess with that, and just sticking with IE. Especially if they have dial-up, where everything is already as slow as molasses.
So my question to my readers today is: Why do you use what you use, and what is it that you use?
Oh, and say that five times fast. I need a good laugh today. No? Spoil sport…
