A Review of “Made to Crave” by Lysa TerKeurst

I was so excited about three weeks ago when I received in the mail two free copies of “Made to Crave” by Lysa TerKeurst, president of Proverbs 31 Ministries. I was eager to read the book and provide a review since Lysa TerKeurst also happens to be one of my favorite authors.

Notice that I said “two” free books. Yes, one is to give away. To change things up a bit instead of giving the book to the first person who emails me, I am going to be giving it to the 5th person who emails me. Just drop me a line or two about why you would like to receive this book or how you feel it will benefit you. I can be reached at hizchozen@sbcglobal.net.

Now, onto the review of “Made to Crave.” In my last couple of blogs I have been talking a little bit about faith and fitness. I realize not everyone who reads the Fitness blogs believes in putting the two together but for the sake of those who do, I know that you will especially enjoy this book.

“Made to Crave” is about finding your deepest cravings filled in your relationship with God. Whether your struggles are with food or something else, at the root is a need to have a more intimate relationship with God.

I have read many faith books on weight loss and exercise that give you a plan. Chew so many times, drink so many glasses of water or exercise this many times per week. There is nothing wrong with any of this. However at the heart I have come to realize my struggles are about my lack in my relationship with God.

Emotional eating is something I have also blogged about, something that I have struggled with. But my emotions cannot be satisfied until they are surrendered to God. “Made to Crave” made me feel like not only can I lose weight but that I can have a closer relationship to God.

Losing weight, looking good and fitting into my jeans is great. But nothing really satisfies unless you find your deepest needs satisfied with God. This book will help to crave you what’s really important.

Lysa TerKeurst also does a weekly webcast which provides additional resources of help. I highly suggest you check out the link to the webcast and tune in.

To wrap it up, “Made to Crave” is the perfect companion to anyone desiring to make healthy changes. Check out the accompanying DVDs and workbook that are nicely priced.
