A Review of Wii Fit Plus

I am so excited about sharing this review. Last week I wrote in my blog, Fitness and Video Games, how the American Red Cross was endorsing two Nintendo Wii games, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. I mentioned that I had ordered Wii Fit Plus after seeing a good friend of mine lose weight on it. Well I am happy to report what I think of Wii Fit Plus.

From the moment I set everything up. Well okay, I take that back, from the moment my 11-year old helped me set everything up I was completely sold on this game. Wii Fit Plus seems to be the answer to my self-diagnosis of ADD. I tend to get very distracted and bored doing the same things over and over again. With Wii Fit Plus it is pretty impossible to get bored. But I am getting ahead of myself here.

What I really love about this video game is that it’s like you have a personal trainer. From the moment you step on the balance board, all of your information goes into the system to help you put together the right fitness program for you. It weighs you and tells you what your BMI (Body Mass Index) is. It tells you if you are underweight, just right, overweight or obese.

From there you can choose a trainer, a routine and then play a number of fun and interesting games that work on balance, strength, and posture. You can choose from yoga or strength exercises. There is really so much to it that I have yet to uncover all of the features.

One of the great tools is the daily body test that you can take. After just three days of working out (along with eating healthier and walking at night), I have lost three pounds. This really got me motivated, seeing the results right there on the screen.

So far my husband and two of my children have registered their own characters. We have spent time playing it together and on our own. It has been great to see my children getting active. We are all very excited and greatly enjoy the variety of games and fitness routines that Wii Fit Plus offers. I definitely would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to put together a great and fun fitness routine.
