After months of rumors, have Madonna and Yankee Alex Rodriguez finally going public with a romance? Well, maybe not exactly, but tongues are still wagging about something that happened Wednesday night.
Madonna was in Miami at the Dolphin’s Stadium playing a sold out show. As you might imagine, one can get parched performing like that, so thankfully, there was someone in the front row to hand her a bottle of water. What? Madonna took a bottle of water from someone on the front row? Well, yes, but it wasn’t just any someone – it was Alex Rodriguez.
Now, maybe the fact that there was rumor of a romance, that they both share the same agent, that A-Rod got divorced, then Madonna filed for divorce and A-Rod just happened to appear in the front row of her concert is all a big coincidence, but…I’m not buying it.
Reportedly, the pair arrived in Miami on Monday, and then spent Wednesday hanging out with Ingrid Casares, a party promoter.
Saying that you want to be successful is one thing, but saying you want to be as successful as Elvis is a whole different thing. But, that is what Kanye West is saying these days. At the American Music Awards, he said he wanted to be the next Elvis, then corrected himself to Ryan Seacrest and changed it to “I want to be better than Elvis.”
While many will agree that Kanye is a very successful hip-hip star, perhaps the dreams of being like Elvis are a bit farfetched. First of all, Kanye has something Elvis never appeared to have – an overinflated ego. When Elvis received awards, he always seemed humble, while Kanye threatens to boycott MTV’s award shows each year when he doesn’t win. Plus, Kanye hasn’t crossed into other genres of music like Elvis did. Elvis had hits on the pop, rock, gospel, and country charts. So, Kanye might want to start there.
Finally, although Elvis’ film career is still mocked today, he did make a lot of films, many which were successful despite the corny plots. Hardly a week goes by when I am not flipping through the television guide and see some Elvis movie listed.
But, one cannot say Kanye isn’t trying. He is developing a series for HBO, but reports are that it has been shelved.
If you ask me, I think Kanye should just be happy with what he has now and keep doing what he does best before he even thinks about expanding into Elvis’ territory.
