A Simple Bath Solution

One of the most stressful times for a new parent can be giving your baby that first bath. You worry about how to hold them, what kind of tub to buy, and what will work best. You feel so awkward at first. My husband and I bathed our newborn for the first time in the kitchen sink. We felt like we had no clue what we were doing, and that it definitely took two of us to give her that first bath at home.

Eventually, you get the hang of it. Now, I bathe two kids at the same time like it’s second nature. There was something that definitely ended up working great for us. With our first, we bought this baby bathtub that was more like a baby spa. It was big and bulky, and fit down inside your regular tub. It had a hose attachment with a sprayer that was nice, but when it was time to move it out of the tub for us to shower in our small apartment, there was no where to put it! It became a hassle and we eventually tossed it out.

We went on the search for something a little more simple. We found the perfect solution. A baby sling. That’s all we needed. Go here to see a picture a similar one. It’s small, easy to move out of the way, and the mesh sling goes right into the washing machine. Perfect. Many bath tubs come with the sling inside them, but we didn’t even need the tub. We were able to fit the sling right into the regular bath tub and just put a small amount of water in the tub to keep baby warm. Baby will sink into the mesh sling enough to stay put, sit in the water, and not fall off. For our second child, we just bought a new sling, and we were set.

Buying baby products can seem like a daunting task, but sometimes the best solution is to just keep it simple.
