In recent blogs I’ve talked about prayer. This morning I want to share with you a specific answer to one of those arrow prayers that go up throughout a day, where a situation arises and you just need God’s help.
In Friday I looked down and noticed the sapphire was missing from the ring
My daughter had bought for me several years ago.
‘Oh no!’ I yelled
My darling husband came running when he heard my cries of alarm. ‘What’s wrong?’
‘I’ve lost the stone from my ring.’
‘Were were you? What were you doing?’
‘How do I know? I wear it all the time. The only time I take it off is if I’m going out and want to wear the garnet ring you bought me,’ I said. I have the ring on every night in bed. I’d been all over the house doing jobs, out in the yard hanging up washing – too many places to even know where to start looking. So I shot up an arrow prayer for help.
Almost as soon as I did, I remembered hearing a slight sound in the machine as it agitated, as though a small pebble was rattling round. I opened the lid and began scrabbling around and there was my deep blue sapphire – all nicely washed and amazingly intact.
With thanks to the Lord, I put the sapphire away in a box with the rest of the ring for the next time we take a trip into town.
In the scheme of life, it wasn’t a major issue but I’m thankful God knows what is important to us. That ring is, not because it is hugely valuable in a monetary sense. It’s valuable to me because my daughter gave it to me and it was bought with care and given with love.
God knows our hearts. He knows what is important to us. His answers to prayer are given with love too. Is there something that you want to bring to God?
