It’s wedding season! When I’m invited to a wedding I usually buy something off the registry but I also like to give a personalized gift. Everyone wants something to remind them of their wedding day.
This is a fairly simple thing to make but I’ve seen them online for $80, yours won’t cost anywhere near that much.
Materials
painting canvas in the size you want your finished item to be
pictures of the bride and groom from their wedding day- I printed these on my printer using plain paper.
A picture of their marriage certificate- print it just like the pictures
Stickers from the scrapbook section of the craft store
scrapbook paper
any embellishments you want to add, I used paper flowers.
And my favorite- Mod Podge.
Start by using the Mod Podge to glue the scrapbook paper to the canvas. I used paper with a soft pattern so it wouldn’t be glaringly obvious that I didn’t’ match up the design.
When that is dry apply a layer of Mod Podge to the top of the scrap book paper and let dry.
Now comes the fun, take the marriage certificate, the pictures, sayings and anything else you are using to embellish and decide on the placement. Play around with it until you really like it, then take a picture of it. This will help you remember where everything goes because you will put it all back on it layers.
I put the marriage certificate and the pictures on first, using Mod Podge, then added their names and the date, the little sayings and embellishments. Allowing the Mod Podge to try between each layer.
Once you are finished cover with a layer of Mod Podge to protect everything and finish the edges. For this one I just sponge painted the edges a little.
A sentimental wedding gift for next to nothing! Now if I could just learn to take better pictures!
