In honor of Father’s Day, scrapbook stores are having a field day hawking books, paper and embellishments that will make dear ol’ Dad a memory book he can cherish forever.
My local scrapbook shop has a gigantic display showcasing a variety of albums dedicated to dads. Most of the books are pretty standard and illustrate how you can use a bunch of nifty tools and rather expensive embellishments to make eye-popping Father’s Day scrapbooks. I flipped through those pretty quickly, but found one that really made an impression. In fact, if it weren’t so close to Dad’s Day, I would consider making one myself.
The ABC scrapbook for dad is an idea I wish I would have thought of weeks ago. The one displayed at my local scrapbook shop features photos and journaling blocks that describe Dad’s best personality traits. For example, “A” is for “Athletic”. The page included photos of a dad and two kids playing football and swimming. It also featured some handwritten notes from the kids detailing their favorite sports-related memories with dad.
I love the idea of creating an ABC scrapbook for dad, but I don’t know if I would limit myself to describing his best traits in alphabetical order. Rather, I think it would be a lot easier (especially if you are working with kids to make the book) to detail special memories made with dad. For example, “B” could be for bike riding. If dad does a lot of bike riding with the family, then feature photos of him doing so. The letter “C” could be for cooking. This layout could feature shots of dad in an apron and chef’s hat or pictures of him grilling outside. Finally, you could finish off the book with the letter “Z” page which could include photos and journaling about a recent trip to the zoo.
