Once again the Disney Cruise line has teamed up with Adventures by Disney to help you make even more out of your Disney vacation. Before, the two created European Port Adventures, where guests on European cruises could follow Adventures by Disney guides on land to see and learn even more of the countries they’re visiting.
This time they’re doing something similar, with Alaska. The name is a bit wordier this time, called “Enhance Your Alaskan Cruise with Adventures by Disney.” For anyone familiar with Adventures by Disney, particularly its trips to rural locales, a lot of the activities are going to sound familiar.
Guides from Adventures by Disney will be by your side whenever you reach port. You’ll get to experience the local natural beauty of Alaska while zip-lining over a rainforest, flying over glaciers in a seaplane, gliding on a dog sled, or panning for gold in icy waters or crossing over them on the Yukon Suspension Bridge. Try local food and experience some of the local culture: all of that is on offer for the Adventures by Disney-enhanced Alaskan cruise.
All of this is done just while you’re at port. While you’re on the ship, the normal Disney cruise amenities apply. It’s not clear whether or not this counts as an Adventures by Disney trip or a Disney Cruise trip, though it seems more like the former: it’s called the Alaskan Wonders Cruise by Adventures by Disney. It’s 8 days and 7 nights through Vancouver, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan.
If you’re interested in a European cruise, the European Port Adventures have a few more options added on since their introduction last year. Unlike the Alaskan Disney Cruise-AbD partnership, it’s easier to just add on a few AbD options to your European cruise experience.
Book a 2013 Mediterranean cruise. Then sign up for an Adventures by Disney pre-stay or on-board experience. That way, either before you ship off for your cruise or while you’re at port during your cruise, you’ll get to experience the countries you’re visiting with trained Adventures by Disney guides. Options include 3- or 4-night tours in Barcelona or 4-night tours in Madrid before your cruise. Or enhance your trip on the Mediterranean, or in Greece or Venice during your cruise.
Some of the highlights of the various trips include a tour of the Prince of Monaco’s palace, a private boat to the island of Capri, a mini marathon at the original Olympic stadium, kayaking off the coast of Croatia, a private tour of the Benedictine retreat of Montserrat, tapas tastings in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, tours of the castles in Madrid, and more.
