You’ll arrive at the Lima International Airport late on day one. Once you exit customs, you’ll be met by an Adventures by Disney representative who will escort you to your vehicle. The driver will assist with your luggage and then take you to the Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel in Lima. There your Adventure Guides will check you in to your room.
On day two, you’ll take a one-hour flight to Cusco to begin your journey to the Sacred Valley. After the short flight, a motor coach will take you to the Center for Traditional Textiles for a lunch of traditional Peruvian foods. Later at the Center for Traditional Textiles, you’ll see master weavers spinning and dying alpaca wool and demonstrating their art. That afternoon you’ll check in to the Sol y Luna Lodge & Spa where you’ll have time to relax in your bungalow, enjoy the pool or spa or even do some horseback riding, biking or paragliding. That evening you’ll enjoy a traditional Andean feast with you fellow adventurers and watch Teatro Sol y Luna perform the dances and stories of the Incas.
On day three, you’re off for an exciting adventure in the form of a rafting trip down the Urubamba River while your guides explain the cultural and natural history of the area. Then you’ll enjoy a buffet lunch in the courtyard of a local museum, explore cobblestone streets and Inca ruins. Later in the afternoon, you’ll visit a local home and learn about the drink called chicha. A Junior Adventurer’s Dinner, which parents may join or not, will follow back at the hotel.
Day four will begin with exploring the ruins of Moray. From there you’ll travel to Maras for a performance by a local dance troop. A picnic lunch will follow. That afternoon, you’ll travel to Maras to tour the salt pan terraces where local families have been mining salt for over 500 years. That evening there will be a Pisco Sour tasting for adults and local fruit juice tasting for Junior Adventurers. You’ll learn how to carve fruits and vegetables, watch a Peruvian cooking demonstration and then prepare your own pizza for dinner.
Day five begins with a train trip to Machu Picchu where you’ll explore the lost city of the Incas and one of the seven New Wonders of the World. After a tour led by a local expert, you’ll spend the afternoon exploring the ruins on your own.
On day six, you’ll stop at the Pisac Market where you can shop for local wares on your way to Cusco. You’ll also visit the Awana Kancha Camelids Center, a living museum where you can see llamas, alpacas and vicuña. You’ll also see how the wool from these South American animals is used to make woven textiles. Lunch will be at Incanto Restaurant, an Italian-inspired restaurant. When you arrive at your hotel in Cusco, you’ll explore the city with a local expert. After your tour, you’ll have free time to enjoy the city on your own.
Day seven begins with a visit to the Inca fortress Sacsayhuaman, built with 200-ton stones that were moved miles with no modern machinery. Your final afternoon in Cusco will be free to spend as you like, followed by dinner at Casa Andina.
Day eight begins with your flight to Lima, followed by a farewell lunch and musical entertainment with your fellow travelers at Casa Aliaga.
