We had a lively and quiet Christmas day at home yesterday. It was such a blessing to avoid all of the rush and stress of the season and to enjoy family in a warm home. I hope that you enjoyed your day as well.
Part of our day was spent playing too many video games and watching too much television. The Christmas Story was playing over and over again, so we caught bits of it here and there. Somewhere in there through were multiple commercials for all of the after Christmas sales. Stores were opening at 5 am in many cases!
If you do shop the after Christmas sales, it is important to know which items are likely to be bargains, and which items are still on the inflated or regular price side. retailers are anxious to move products, but they also want to get as much as they can out of the after Christmas bargain hunters.
Do your research before you go out, so you know the regular price of things. You can use the Internet to help. That said, here are some of the things that are most likely to be on good sales or deep discounts.
Holiday tableware
Table clothes, holiday dishes, centerpieces, serving pieces and other table items that are related to entertaining should be discounted, especially if they have Christmas decorations and themes.
Small kitchen appliances
From coffee makers to crockpots to toaster ovens, all of the small kitchen appliances that didn’t wind up under someone’s tree are bound to be on sale. Also look for bread makers, sandwich and panini makers and food sealing systems. You may not find top of the line stuff here, although it is worth a look. Mostly you’ll find lower or mid-range small kitchen appliances for a steal.
Check back for my next post coming up shortly today that lists more after Christmas bargains to hunt.
