To succeed in homeschooling, it is in your best interest to get involved with other homeschoolers. You should join a homeschool network or group near you. For this reason, I have decided to give a full listing of homeschooling groups throughout each state. Yes, there are other sites that list homeschool networks and support groups but none of are comprehensive. Some of them only list Christian, others only list those affiliated with them. AlaskaHS Yahoo Group AlaskaHS is a list for Alaskans (or those interested in living in AK) that homeschool. You may live in any part of AK to participate.
Christian Home Educators of Kodiak (CHEK)
Denali Peak A standards-based homeschool support program serving Alaska homeschool students. Educational programs and resource assistance / support is also available.
Eagle River Christian Homeschool Association (Chugiak/Eagle River)
Meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month (except June & July) at Eagle River Grace Brethren Church, Mile 1.8 Birchwood Loop Road, Chugiak. Child care provided.
Eielsonwainwrighthomeschoolers (Eielson AFB/Ft. Wainwright Home Schoolers) – This is a group to help connect homeschoolers from Eielson AFB and Fort Wainwright (plus the surrounding civilian areas are welcome to join).
fairbankshomeschoolers Where Alaskans from Fairbanks, North Pole, Salcha, Fox and outlying area homeschoolers can get online support. This new list is where you can get support, discuss homeschooling, trade curriculum, announce events (even garage sales) with only a few rules. No spam or flaming (advertising or arguing) will be tolerated and there are no exceptions. Should you decide to break the rules you’ll be banned swiftly from the board.
homeschool-Alaska (Homeschooling in Alaska) – This list is for discussing homeschooling in Alaska. Feel free to post a topic, question, website, or anything related to homeschooling.
homeschoolfriendlysupport (Homeschool support list) – This is a place for families who are enrolled or thinking of enrolling in a state funded correspondence school, distance learning or any other homeschool program which is supported by the state or any other public school. Some examples of these are IDEA, Cyberlynx and K12. This list is originating in Alaska, but homeschoolers from any state can join.
