My best friend has a Black Friday tradition that hasn’t been broken in nearly a decade. Instead of hitting the malls to scoop up holiday deals, my pal and the rest of the females in her family head to the spa for Black Friday makeovers.
Since we don’t live in the same state, I’m not always privy to the results of the girls-only spa day. Fortunately, I still get a chance to revel in the memories because my friend is a die-hard scrapper and all of the photos that are snapped on the big spa day are almost immediately featured in a two or four-page scrapbook spread.
I’m not sure why I didn’t think of the idea first. After all, spa days are the perfect opportunity to create hair-themed scrapbook layouts. You just need to be sure to snap a lot of photos documenting the transformation. Take some shots of your friends in the stylist’s chair or getting a wash. You can even take some photos of the blow drying process. Then, embellish the layouts with a few scraps of real hair, as well as stickers and stamps in shapes of scissors, hairspray bottles, hairdryers, and combs. Place before and after shots of each of your loved ones on shiny or softly-textured paper with silky page borders.
Another welcome addition is a section on hair color. If a member of your group is adding highlights or getting a full dye job, then be sure to document it so you can add it to your layout. To enhance the page, you could look for scrapbook paper that highlights your pal’s new hair color. Then, offset it with silver, gold, and copper cardstock, which can be made into three-dimensional embellishments. Employ a die cut machine to create pretty frames that show off your photographs.
