If you are a fan of Jimmy Kimmel I have good news for you. If you can’t stand the guy then I would suggest staying away from your TV for a while. And if have no clue who Jimmy Kimmel is you probably will by the end of the month.
The late night talk show host will be saturating the airwaves beginning next week. In a move that has never been executed by an entertainer, Kimmel is going bicoastal. He’s keeping his gig as host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in Los Angeles but will also be filling in for a vacationing Regis Philbin on “Live with Regis and Kelly” in New York.
That means for an entire week Kimmel will fly back and forth across the country on a daily basis. He’ll begin his day in the Big Apple co-hosting with Kelly Ripa in New York then hopping on a plane and taping his own show in Los Angeles each night.
“I am a little bit insane,” Kimmel told news reporters. “It will be difficult, but that’s how committed I am to entertaining America. And parts of Canada.”
Kimmel says he has a game plan for his upcoming week. The late night host plans to prepare for his own show while flying west and will catch up on sleep during his overnight flights east.
The cross-country element adds spice to the show, Kimmel said. “For whatever we lose from not being able to prepare for a long time, I think we’ll gain in stories and stunts as it happens,” he said. “People can tune in and watch me collapse on air.”
If he faints during his “Live” gig perhaps one of the show’s scheduled guests will fill-in for the fill-in. I hear Renee Zellweger, Steve Carell, Anderson Cooper and Carrie Underwood are slated to appear on the show. Equally entertaining are Kimmel’s scheduled guests for his nightly show during the week he attempts to make TV history. Josh Hartnett, Brad Paisley, Mira Sorvino and Ben Harper are among the celebs Kimmel is scheduled to chat with once the sun dips below the horizon in L.A.
I know what you are thinking… why in the world would Kimmel agree to the bicoastal gig? The answer: Why not? “If you give me enough advance notice, I will agree to almost anything,” Kimmel joked.
Oh and one more note. Lest you think Kimmel plans to pull a fast one on viewers, the late night host insists the coast-to-coast hosting gig is the real deal–no cheating and taping two shows in one night.
