Amazing Grace: Grace Like Rain

Outside the front door of our home is a cross which sights the lyrics to “Amazing Grace” on it. I just fell in love with it when I found it at a Christian book store. The lyrics to the song are incredibly humbling and reason for me to rejoice. The cross is a fresh reminder each time anyone walks through the door of our home of God’s grace.

At this time our church is doing a series called “Living in Amazing Grace.” I too often forget how precious God’s grace really is and this series has been a great reminder. The word “Grace” is defined in the Hebrew translation as kindness or favor, and in the Greek translation as favor, gift and grace. Not one person on earth is without sin and yet, we, by Jesus Christ’s blood, can sit before Him because of His amazing Grace. It is truly something to rejoice about!

When I first heard the version of “Amazing Grace” by Todd Agnew which is actually called, “Grace Like Rain,” my heart was overjoyed by the fresh reminder of God’s goodness toward us. This popular version of the song is one I enjoy singing praises to God while in our church as well.

God’s love for us is immeasurable and the greatest gift we could ever receive. God’s will is that no one would be separated from Him for eternity but that each and every person would come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). His grace is available to everyone who will accept it and it’s a gift that lasts forever. The celebration of God’s grace is something for all of us to get excited about. If you are in need of God’s grace to pour over you, humbly seek Him. He’s there waiting for you. He knows every tear you’ve cried, and your darkest secrets. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

Grace Like Rain

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me

I once was lost but now I’m found

Was blind but now I see so clearly

Chorus:

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me

Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear

And grace my fears relieved

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed

Chorus

When we’ve been there ten thousand years

Bright shining as the sun

We’ve no less days to sing Your praise

Than when we first begun

Chorus

Chorus
