I am the mother of a toddler and an infant. I don’t enjoy going shopping with two little ones in tow. I am always looking for ways to save money, and I love having things we want or need shipped to the house. I admit it; I’m an Amazon Mom. I love getting diapers and other baby and kid essentials delivered in exchange for an Amazon Prime membership, which gives me free two-day shipping.
When I was a little girl my friend down the street got deliveries from the milkman. I didn’t know why my mom didn’t do that since I was the youngest of four. My mom got milk at the Altadena Dairy location in Arcadia. All we had to do was drive up and the attendant put the milk in the car. Mom would often get me a treat there and I usually opted for Hostess Suzy Qs.
Where we last lived in Southern California, we could get delivery from one of the local grocery stores. The thought of grocery delivery sounded so luxurious and easy. I didn’t have a need for it, though, so I didn’t want to pay the fee for the service. I don’t remember who the online e-tailers were, but, if I remember correctly, there were two that delivered groceries. I didn’t want to pay the cost of the items plus fees.
We are too far away from delivery where we live now. As much as I’d love to order pizza or Chinese, I’d still have to go get it myself. I am so excited to learn that Amazon has started beta grocery delivery service in Seattle. It won’t be long before Amazon’s great prices and free shipping are available to me. I can’t wait to not have to go shopping with the children or sacrifice sleep to go shopping without.
