Velvet Teddy Bear Ruben Studdard made many a woman swoon on his way to winning the second season of “American Idol” with his smooth voice. But, he may be turning into a one woman man soon. Studdard and fiancé Surata Zuri McCants showed up at the Shelby County Probate Office in Birmingham yesterday and received a marriage license, which is good for 30 days. An eyewitness said the pair looked “really happy.” So far, there has been no word on when the couple plans to marry.
Always controversial, Simon Cowell spiced up Randy Jackson’s 52nd birthday with a special gift – a barbaric-looking sword. Randy celebrated his birthday at TAO in Las Vegas last Saturday and the bash was attended by the likes of Rosario Dawson and Karina Smirnoff. Simon wasn’t on hand, but sent Randy the sword gift, which caused Jackson to say “I don’t know what part of me he wants to cut off, but that’s a whole ‘nother thing.”
Newly crowned Idol David Cook is hot – in more than one way! Cook scored his way on to the recent People magazine Hottest Summer Bachelors list, along side such other hotties as Mario Lopez, Gerard Butler, and Jason Lewis.
But David Cook is also hot on the charts. Eleven of his titles appeared on America’s Hot 100 singles chart. He beat the old record of six new titles held by teen phenom Miley Cyrus. Cook also has 14 songs on the Hot Digital Songs list. Appearing at #3 is his hit “The Time of My Life,” which has already sold 236,000 downloads. Also appearing in the top 5 is Lil Wayne featuring Static Major (“Lollipop”), Leona Lewis (“Bleeding Love”), Rihanna (“Take a Bow”), and another Idol alum, Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown (“No Air”).
Billboard is reporting that Cook’s debut album will hit the stores this fall.
