Frugal genealogists are going to want to find resources that are free to use.
Ancestry.com is a great genealogy website. It is very popular, has plenty of members, and updates their resources frequently. Usually, you have to be paying a membership fee in order to access things that are available to members at Ancestry.com. Once in a while, though, things are offered for free.
Right now, genealogists can watch several archived webinar videos that are on the Ancestry.com website. You can click on them and watch them for free, even if you don’t have a membership with Ancestry.com. However, it is worth noting that all five videos are about how to use different parts of the Ancestry.com website. In other words, the videos are made for people who already are members, who newly became a member, or who are seriously considering becoming a member.
There are a total of five videos to choose from.“Why Start a Family Tree” can help you to learn how an Ancestry.com family tree can help you trace your family story “back in time”. It also shows you how to get that family tree started. “Getting Started With Search” shows you how to search for your ancestors in the Ancestry.com collections of historical records.
“Getting Started on Ancestry” is a brief video that teaches genealogists that are new to the website the best way to get started on Ancestry.com. “Exploring Census Roots” teaches you how to read a 1930 United States Census record. You can also learn how this record can help you to discover more at Ancestry.com. “Behind the Scenes at Ancestry.com” is, as expected, a behind the scenes look at how things work at this popular online genealogy company.
Ancestry.com also has almost 100 videos that are a live event that has been recorded. They recently started doing live videos through Livestream. You can watch the videos that have been posted into the Ancestry Video Library for free.
