And Then There Was One–A “Desperate Housewives’” Star Engagement

I wonder how Teri Hatcher feels now? Today, the “Desperate Housewives’” star is now officially, the only single cast member on the hit ABC show. Know why? Because Eva Longoria has just gotten engaged to NBA star Tony Parker.

According to PEOPLE magazine: “Eva and Tony are officially engaged.” And according to Longoria’s rep, “The couple has never been happier.”

The happy couple confirmed the news themselves this morning on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show.
Parker told Seacrest’s radio listeners that he flew into Los Angeles last night after the Spurs’ game against the Utah Jazz and was waiting at Eva’s home when she came in from work around midnight and proposed.
Longoria told Seacrest that she and Parker will tie the knot in France sometime next summer in what she describes as a “big, happy ceremony with lots of family and friends.”

It’s official—hooray. I suppose now the endless media speculation of “will-they-won’t-they” can end. After dating for two years (the couple met in November 2004 after one of Parker’s basketball games) and enduring a much publicized split two months ago, the “Desperate Housewives’” star finally got her man… and her ring. (Longoria spoke at length about the type of ring she wanted following her co-star Nicollette Sheridan’s annoucement that she was engaged to boyfriend Michael Bolton).

Longoria, 31, and the French-born Parker, 24, tried to hide their relationship from the public at first, but by August 2005, Longoria said she no longer felt the need to disguise her affections for the man she wanted to be with “forever.”

Judging by her last appearance on Oprah, it seems Longoria has wanted to be engaged for a while. Now she is… and will be getting married in her fiancé’s country. It seems a bit untraditional, but perhaps, France oozes a bit more romance than the bride’s Texas hometown. It should be quite an affair… who knows… maybe Teri Hatcher will catch the bridal bouquet.
