Animals with Unusual Aspirations

Every once in a while odd notions pop into my head. (Okay, more than just once in a while.) The past few months, though, I keep having thoughts about animals with unusual aspirations.

I’m not sure if they’re potential children’s book titles or just humorous musings meant to poke me when my subconscious thinks I need a laugh. Whatever they are –or may one day become– they make me smile.

With all the bad news in the media recently, I thought I’d share them with you in the hopes perhaps they’ll bring a little levity to your life, too.

The Animals and Their Unusual Aspirations

1. The Chihuahua Who Wanted to Be a Sled Dog.

2. The Tiger Who Wanted to Be a Vegetarian.

3. The Parrot Who Wanted to Sing Opera.

4. The Cat Who Studied Taekwondo.

5. The Pig Who Opened a Day Spa.

6. The Labrador Who Wanted to Be a Pitcher.

7. The Goldfish Who Acted Like a Great White.

8. The Dolphin Who Wanted to Be a Lifeguard. (Okay, this one isn’t such a stretch. There are lots of stories of dolphins actually saving people. But I thought it would make a cute title anyway.)

9. The Penguin Who Led a Hotshot Crew. (You know how penguins are usually associated with cold? I got a kick out of thinking of a penguin decked out in firefighting gear.)

10. The Sea Monkey Who Was Afraid of Water. (Or, an alternative title, The Sea Monkey Who Could Not Swim.)

11. The Penguin Who Wanted to Be a Little Boy’s Pet.

12. The Monkey Who Wanted to Be a Web Master.

13. The Gorilla Who Went to Optometry School.

14. The Capuchin Who Was Good at Smoochin’.

15. The Alligator Who Lost His Smile.

16. The Kitty Who Wanted to Be an Olympic Swimmer. (I can see the illustrations for this one. A cute little cat with a swim cap on it’s head perched on the starting blocks!)

17. The Lizard Who Refused to Eat Bugs.

18. The Rat Who Wanted to Be a Security Guard.

19. The Sugar Glider Who Was Afraid of the Night. (Sugar gliders are nocturnal.)

20. The Elephant Who Became a Ballerina. (Again, I can see the illustration for this one: an elephant on tiptoes wearing a tutu!)

Question to Readers

My personal favorites are numbers 1 and 14. What are yours? And did any of these inspire your brain to create any “titles?”
