Another Star Engagement

Movie producer Tracey Edmonds may be sporting a sling soon… she’ll need it to help support her left hand, specifically her ring finger. According to multiple media outlets, Edmonds is proudly flashing an enormous rock given to her by her now fiancé Eddie Murphy.

The “Shrek” star and Edmonds (his girlfriend of 10 months) are officially engaged. The Oscar nominated actor reportedly proposed to Edmonds with a massive yellow diamond ring (some reports estimate the ring is nearly 10 carats) on July 25th, just two days after the premiere of “Who’s Your Caddy?,” which Edmonds produced.

OK! Magazine reports the day after Edmonds said yes to Murphy she blinded several friends showing off her new ring during lunch on the patio of the W Hotel in Westwood, California.

The 46-year-old actor and his 40-year-old bride-to-be have not set an official wedding date, but sources close to the couple tell reporters that they plan to tie the knot by the end of the year. But don’t expect a lavish affair (Murphy’s wedding to first wife Nicole Mitchell costs more than $1.5 dollars), a pal of Murphy’s told the magazine that the upcoming wedding will be “private, low-key, and romantic.”

Murphy has five children with Mitchell. Their marriage ended after 12 years and their divorce was finalized in April 2006. He also has a child with ex-girlfriend and former Spice Girl Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown. After a highly publicized denial that the child was his, last month, court ordered DNA tests confirmed that Murphy is indeed the baby’s father.

Edmonds is the ex-wife of singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds (their divorce was finalized last month). She also has children from her first marriage, which lasted 13 years before it crumbled. The soon-to-be Mrs. Murphy is head of Our Stories Films. At the premiere of the company’s film, two days before Murphy popped the question, Edmonds was wearing another flashy but smaller ring. At that time Murphy denied they were engaged, saying. “If I were gonna do an engagement ring, it would be much bigger.”

He wasn’t kidding.
