Do you have great window treatments? You probably spent a lot of time choosing or making them, and you may have even spent quite a bit of money getting just what you wanted. Beautiful window treatments are like icing on a cake, so many of us find it well worth the time as well as the cost involved in order to get the perfect treatments.
On the other hand, here is something we do not always think about… What do those window treatments look like from the exterior of the home? Of course, there are window treatments that look just as good inside or out, but others, not so much.
Some people also layer their treatments. Maybe all that can be seen from outdoors is blinds or whatever else makes up the closest layer to the windows, giving all the windows in the home a uniform appearance from outside.
If you have not already taken such pains with your otherwise perfect window treatments, go outside and face your home. Take a long look. Do any windows really stand out or is the overall look fairly cohesive?
If you find that one or more windows stand out when viewing your home, consider adding simple linings to your existing curtains or drapes. For other window treatments, consider adding sets of sheers beneath the treatments, so that when they are open, each window will look more uniform.
*Having uniform windows is a great way to add to your curb appeal, so this is especially important if you are trying to sell your home. If you plan to take your existing window treatments with you when you move into your new home, replace them with inexpensive options before putting your house on the market. The new ones do not necessarily have to match precisely but should look the same or very similar from outside the home.
