Apples and Weight Loss

A well-known phrase is “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” There is great truth to that not only in terms of your health in general, but in truth because eating apples are a great way to aid in weight loss.

Apples are a great diet food. They contain no fat, sodium, or cholesterol. Apples also have a small bit of potassium, which is an asset in terms of your heart and your blood pressure. There is no doubt that apples are good for you. The apple is the second most sought after fruit in the United States not only for the above reasons, but because they just taste so darn good.

Apples contain pectin and pectin lessens your appetite making you desire less food. It fills you up and leaves your stomach with a satisfied feeling. It can help you to feel full for up to four hours. They are also plentiful in vitamin A and contain vitamin C, iron, and fiber as well. The apple is approximately 120 calories for a large apple, which would make a great low-calorie breakfast for someone on the go.

There really is a great deal of benefits in the apple. You can grab one on your way out the door in the morning and eat it on your way to work. You can throw one in your purse as you head out the door and save it for a snack. This will solve the problem of munching on some high calorie snack food during your mid morning break when we tend to get hungry. It really is very simple. Why not implement more apples in your diet and see what happens? You have got nothing to lose except weight. Apples are good food. Start eating an apple for each meal along with other nutritional foods and reap the health benefits, as well as the weight loss benefits of the incredible, amazing apple.
