If you own a Macintosh computer then iLife is a great piece of software to have. iLife is designed to work alongside OS X to help you turn your computer into a true creative multimedia experience. I have a G4 PowerMac and absolutely love how iLife integrates with my Mac. I use iMovie to create quick video clips and burn fantastic customized DVDs using iDVD. I think the programs are pretty easy to learn how to use, and are terrific for the price you pay for them. Here are the programs that are included with iLife 06’.
iPhoto
iPhoto allows you to organize your photos into different albums, build photo slideshows, and easily do simple edits of your photographs. iPhoto in iLife 06 has built in support for podcasting as well as photo blog and cards and calendars.
iMovie
iMovie was the first video editing program I ever used. Now a professional video editor for my local CBS station I find myself going back to iMovie to do some of my own personal projects even though I have a professional video editing program (Final Cut Pro) on my home computer. iMovie is very easy to use and offers a good deal of transitions and features that can make your home videos look professional. iMovie also integrates with iDVD for easy chapter settings and DVD building.
iDVD
iDVD has lots of pre-set DVD templates from one that looks like a movie theater to several different wedding backgrounds. I have given out several DVDs made in iDVD and they have always gotten great reviews.
GarageBand
Garageband allows you to create your very own music. The program has several different loops of instruments and drums that you can put together to create your own music. The version of GarageBand in iLife06 also has special support for creating your very own podcasts.
iWeb
Create your own website starring your photos, podcasts,, and videos. iWeb has several templates you can customize to create the perfect webpage for you.
